Terms of use

The rules of the road. We've written them the way we'd want to read them.

Last updated 29 July 2026

These terms apply to Moneymalist — Expense Tracker (com.moneymalist) and to this website. Installing or using the app means you agree to them. If you don’t, the honest answer is that you shouldn’t use it.

1. What you can do with the app

You get a personal, non-exclusive licence to install and use Moneymalist on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business record-keeping. That licence can’t be transferred or sub-licensed.

Please don’t:

  • copy, resell, rent out, or redistribute the app
  • reverse-engineer or decompile it, except where the law says you may
  • strip out or alter any ownership or licence notices
  • use it to break the law, or to do anything that damages the service for other people

2. Your data is your responsibility

Everything you enter is stored on your own device. We don’t hold a copy, which is the point — but it also means we cannot recover it for you if your phone is lost, broken, wiped, or the app is uninstalled.

Backing up is on you. The app gives you the tools free of charge (Google Drive backup and restore), and we’d strongly encourage using them. See the support page for how.

3. Free and Premium

The app is free to download and use, with limits on some features. Premium removes those limits and adds more, and is sold as a subscription or a one-time purchase through Google Play.

  • Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them. You cancel in your Google Play account, not with us — we have no ability to cancel on your behalf.
  • Cancelling stops future charges. It does not delete anything you’ve recorded; you simply return to the free limits.
  • We may change what’s in each tier over time. If something moves out of the free tier, it won’t take away data you’ve already created.

Refunds are handled by Google Play under their policy — see our refunds page for how to request one.

4. Google services

Google Sign-In, Google Drive backup, and Google Play Billing are provided by Google and governed by Google’s own terms. We can’t control their availability, and if one of them changes or breaks, the affected feature may change or break too.

5. The app is provided as it is

We work hard to make Moneymalist accurate and reliable, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or right in every calculation. To the extent the law allows, it’s provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind.

6. It is not financial advice

Please read this one

Moneymalist is a record-keeping tool. Its charts, forecasts, budget health indicators, and insights are calculations based on the numbers you enter. They are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nobody here is a licensed adviser.

Forecasts are projections from past entries, not predictions of what will happen. Please don’t make a significant financial decision on the strength of a chart alone — talk to a qualified professional who knows your situation.

7. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data arising from your use of the app — including decisions made on the basis of information shown in it.

Where liability can’t be excluded, it’s limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything else the law says can’t be limited.

8. Ending it

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, which removes your local data. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms. Sections 2, 5, 6, 7, and 9 survive.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer elsewhere, this doesn’t remove protections you have under your own local law.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. The new version goes on this page with a fresh date, and anything significant will be mentioned in the app’s release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
