Refunds and cancellations

How to cancel, how to get your money back, and what we can and can't do from our end.

Last updated 29 July 2026

All Moneymalist payments go through Google Play. That shapes everything below: Google takes the payment, holds the record, and processes refunds. We never see your card details and cannot charge or refund you directly.

Cancelling a subscription

You can cancel at any time, and it takes about thirty seconds:

  • Open the Google Play Store app
  • Tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptionsSubscriptions
  • Choose MoneymalistCancel subscription

You keep Premium until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. After that you go back to the free tier. Nothing you’ve recorded is deleted — every transaction, budget, and category stays exactly where it is.

Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription

This catches people out. Removing the app stops it being on your phone; it doesn’t stop the renewal. You have to cancel in Google Play, or it keeps charging.

Asking for a refund

Google Play generally allows a self-service refund within 48 hours of purchase:

After 48 hours it becomes a manual request, still through Google. Refunds are at Google’s discretion under their policy, and their decision is final — we can’t overturn it.

What we can do

Quite a lot, actually, if you talk to us first. If something didn’t work, unlocked incorrectly, or wasn’t what you expected, email moneymalist.app@gmail.com with your Google Play order ID and what went wrong. We’ll either fix it or support your refund request with Google.

If you bought Premium and it hasn’t unlocked, that’s usually solvable in a minute — check you’re signed into the same Google account and use “Restore purchases” in the app. See the support page.

One-time purchases

A lifetime purchase isn’t a subscription, so there’s nothing to cancel. The same Google Play refund window and process apply.

Free trials and offers

If a trial or introductory offer is running, its terms are shown in the app before you confirm. Cancel before a trial ends and you won’t be charged.

Prices changing

If we change subscription prices, Google notifies existing subscribers in advance and asks you to accept the new price before it applies. An increase never takes effect silently.

Still stuck
